Sesame tong yuen glutinous rice balls in ginger soup

These delicious round rice balls are symbolic of a sweet life shared with family and friends.
Ingredients: 
12 to 18 frozen sesame rice balls [tong yuen]
4 cups / 1 L water
8–10 slices fresh ginger root
1 small yam, peeled and diced
3 Tbsp / 45 mL honey, or to taste

Cook rice balls per package instructions. Set aside.

In a saucepan, combine water and ginger and bring to a boil. Turn heat down, add yam and simmer for about 3 minutes or until yam is tender. Using a slotted spoon, remove ginger slices. Sweeten soup with honey to taste.

Add rice balls to soup. Divide into small soup bowls and serve.

Serves 4 to 6
